National Organizer

On February 1, 1997, the Planning Department of the 2000 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, Prague was established at the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic. The legal framework for the activities of this unit is formed by (i) Resolution No. 596 of the Government of the Czech Republic from October 1995, and (ii) by Resolution No. 606 of the Government of the Czech Republic from November 1996main_r3_c2

The Ministry of Finance – as the national organizer – simultaneously became the main partner of the organizer of the Annual Meetings – the Joint Secretariat of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington.

The Planning Department answers to the Bretton-Wood institutions for ensuring that the Czech Republic will successfully manage the organization of the whole event, including the arrival and stay of more than fifteen thousand delegates and guests from around the globe.

The Planning Department of the 2000 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, Prague is closely cooperating with other partners – namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Czech National Bank, the City Council of the capital city of Prague, the Prague Congress Centre – and with the Executive Organizer of the 2000 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

Resolution No. 952 of the Government of the Czech Republic from September 15, 1999 appointed Zdenek HrubĂ˝, CSC. as Government Representative for the preparation and organization of the IMF/WBG Annual Meetings. He is coordinating the cooperation of all institutions involved in preparing this event.
