The History of the Annual Meetings

The first Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group took place in Washington in 1946, two years after the United Nations conference in Bretton Woods. In 1947, the first Annual Meetings moved to Europe, to be held in London. In 1952, they were held in Latin America (Mexico City) followed by Asia (Delhi) in 1958 and Africa (Nairobi) in 1973.

Prague will become the twentieth city to host the Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
